What is a content management system?

A content management system (CMS) is a tool for managing your online content, your website.

CMS's have features that allow you to arrange your website the way you want it, the standard features include the ability to:

• create and delete pages
• hide pages
• edit pages
• add images to pages
• rearrange and reorder pages
• manage images and files
• edit content that appears across the site, for example, contact email addresses and telephone numbers, in one place

• edit the meta data (the information that the search engines need but is not visible on the actual website itself, this is helpful for SEO)
