When You Create Content It's Your Content Don't Give It All Away

Blogging is creating your own content and owning it for yourself.

Not giving away it to Facebook or Twitter or Google or LinkedIn or Tumblr or whoever.

Yes, sure, promote it and market it using them.

But keep it on your own website, own it, delete it, change it, repurpose it.

You own it and you can do what you want with it.

Just do it for yourself, you'll learn stuff from writing and reading your own ideas.

Keep it on your own site and you'll be creating a resource you can come back to.

And you might even get some comments that give you other ideas or add to the value of the post.

When people make comments it's like they are giving something back to you (and your website).

So if you have a blog post up on your site, it's available 24 hours a day 365 days a year for anyone in the world to give you something back.

If you put your content directly on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. you are supporting them.

Pay yourself first and put your content on your own site.

What work did I do today?

None, I got out of Leeds and was on my bike in the Yorkshire Dales, and then went to a BBQ in the evening.

Exercise: Lots, see above.

Tomorrow: I need to batch write some blog posts as I am running out.
